New Trailer and Poster for Sundance Hit SOUND OF MY VOICE

A new trailer and poster for the drama Sound of My Voice have gone online. The film was one of two breakout hits for star/co-writer Brit Marling at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, the first being the sci-fi drama Another Earth. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Sound of My Voice and I was beyond intrigued by the first 12 minutes of the film that were released online. The story involves a pair of investigative journalists who infiltrate a mysterious group led by an enigmatic leader (Marling) with the intent of exposing her as a fraud. This trailer gets into the larger issues explored in the plot, and Dave remarked in his recap of the film’s WonderCon panel that the hint of menace seen in the opening 12 minutes of the film looks to escalate dramatically in this trailer. The clip is sure to draw interest and I’m incredibly eager to see the full film when it hits theaters.

We’ve got a few new posters to share with you today. Briefly:
On the Road—Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund and Viggo Mortensen star in the first feature film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel. The film premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, and you can watch the trailer here.
Killer Joe—Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch and Juno Temple star in this NC-17-rated story of a brother and sister who hire a contract killer to murder their mother in order to get her insurance policy. The film is currently awaiting a release date. Read Matt’s review here.
The Perfect Family—Kathleen Turner stars as a suburban mother and devout Catholic running for the Catholic Woman of the Year title. Jason Ritter and Emily Deschanel also star. The film opens on May 4th.

First Trailer and Poster for Horror-Thriller CHERNOBYL DIARIES from PARANORMAL ACTIVITY’s Oren Peli

The first trailer for the latest horror-thriller from Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli has gone online. Chernobyl Diaries follows a group of friends vacationing in Eastern Europe who find themselves stranded in a ghost town near the nuclear reactor incident site of Chernobyl. As expected, they begin to realize they’re not entirely alone. I actually think Chernobyl is an intriguing location for a horror pic, and though I’m not normally a fan of Peli’s stuff, the historical aspect of Chernobyl on display in the trailer is appealing. It's hard to tell if the jump scares work or not from a computer screen, but I'm sure audiences will have a better idea of the film's "scare factor" when they see the trailer in theaters. I still can’t figure out whether this is a found footage movie or not; either it is, or it’s filmed in a very handheld style. Peli was originally set to direct Chernobyl Diaries but he handed duties off to Brad Parker while assuming a producer role.

New Banners and Japanese Poster for THE AVENGERS

Marvel has released three new banners and a Japanese poster for The Avengers. The banners each feature a pair of Avengers ready to tear it up (except for Black Widow, who must have noticed a shiny penny on the ground or something). There's also a new Japanese poster where we see that the Avengers also have some nice, casual clothes for when they like to kick back and relax.

New THE AVENGERS Posters Assemble into a Banner

On Monday, Marvel released six character posters for The Avengers. Now, through the magic of Photoshop, Marvel has slightly re-arranged some of the characters and released a new banner for the movie. Thor should probably keep his head up if he's in the middle of a huge battle, but he's also a Norse god so may be he can afford to take a little battle-snooze.

New GAME OF THRONES Season Two Poster Spoils Part of Season One

Obviously, because the show is such a huge hit and memes and every scrap of news on Game of Thrones shows up everywhere, there's no doubt that plenty of us have seen the entire first season of HBO's epic fantasy series. The hype machine is in full swing with the second season premiere coming in just a couple of weeks on April 1st, but that means those who aren't caught up or on the bandwagon after the first season have the potential to have some things spoiled for them. A new fan poster (released as part of a fan program set up by HBO) for the second season does just that by revealing the death of a major character from the first season. It's pretty gruesome, but it's simple and effective, like most of the marketing so far. We've put the poster after the jump to avoid upsetting anyone, but at this point, if you haven't caught up on Game of Thrones, you need to get your priorities straight, start neglecting your family, friends and job, and get on this train. Again, a MAJOR SPOILER for season one is included after the jump.

Cool Fan-Made Poster for New James Bond Film, SKYFALL

It’s pretty safe to say that fans are quite looking forward to the next James Bond film, Skyfall. The franchise was rejuvenated with Daniel Craig in the excellent Casino Royale, and while the follow-up Quantum of Solace was a bit of a misfire, Skyfall has all the makings of a worthy entry to the classic series. Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead) is in the director’s chair, Javier Bardem is set as our villain, and Ralph Fiennes is onboard in a mysterious role. We got our first look at Bardem by way of some set photos just the other day, and while we’re eagerly awaiting Sony’s release of a trailer and poster, a pretty cool fan-made poster recently hit the web. It’s minimal, but the image of the smoking gun alongside the Skyfall logo gets the Bond message across loud and clear. It may be awhile before we see a full trailer given that Mendes is still in the middle of production, so this fan poster serves as a nice reminder that James Bond returns to theaters later this year.
