We round out Star Wars Day with an announcement on The Clone Wars.  From LFL... CG Supervisor Joel Aron will share his expertise and his inside knowledge of the hit television series The Clone Wars at Celebration VI. Aron, who draws on an exhaustive history of creating seamless digital effects for Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic has helped bring a feature film sensibility to the weekly animated adventures of The Clone Wars. Those at Celebration can hear from Aron on The Clone Wars panels with Dave Filoni, sharing both behind-the-scenes knowledge and new sneak peeks into Season Five.

In addition to appearing on the larger stages, Aron will again treat fans to master class sessions in the much more intimate “Star Wars University” lecture hall.

Aron joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1991 as a technical assistant on the feature film Hook. He has worked on many high profile films, including Jurassic Park, Men in Black, The Perfect Storm and Pearl Harbor. As a CG Supervisor, Aron continued to push the limits of computer graphic feature film visual effects, while still working on location for principal photography. In the spring of 2008, Aron joined forces with the team behind Star Wars: The Clone Wars to help advance Lucasfilm Animation’s production technology. Now, supervising the visual effects and lighting for the epic series, Aron continues to push the look of the show to be the most spectacular animated series on television.

Prior to joining ILM, Aron worked as a freelance computer artist, specializing in 2D compositing, 3D lighting and modeling and animation. He is an avid photographer, and is rarely seen without a camera.

Star Wars At Large: Show Us Your Collection

Posted By: Medium At Large

Fri May 4 2012 12:56:00 pm

images
Got a Star Wars collection? Want to share it? Celebration wants to talk with you! From Lucasfilm... Each Star Wars collection is as unique as the people who assembled it. Whether your collection fills a single shelf or a full house, the Celebration VI Collecting Track will show what sets your collection apart. Maybe you have the weirdest assortment of t-shirts, or posters from every country where Star Wars movies were shown. Maybe you just have a flair for displaying your stash in ways that even non-fans can appreciate.

The Celebration VI Collector Showcase is your chance to provide fellow collectors with ideas on how to make their own collections shine. Select images from those submitted will be displayed in the Collectors' community area at Star Wars Celebration VI.  To have your collection considered for the Showcase (you may enter as an individual or a family), send no more than eight images to Todd Chamberlain no later than June 8.

Please include:

- Full name(s)
- City, state/province, and country
- 400 words or less about what makes your collection unique in terms of content, focus, or presentation. Tell us how your collection developed.
- High-resolution images will be needed (4256x2848 at 300 dpi or greater) for the final product, but lower resolution images may be submitted initially

We will be looking for a variety of content and display styles, so if you have a larger collection, be sure to include images that focus on smaller groupings of items (i.e., a particular shelf or display case), not just wide angle shots. Photo submissions may be posted on the official Star Wars Celebration Web site and affiliated promotional Web sites, publications, or on posters and slide presentations at Celebration VI.

Next on Star Wars Day?  Word from Lucasfilm on the Fan Tables that'll appear at Celebration... Who would know better what Star Wars fans enjoy at Celebrations than the fans themselves? At Celebration VI, creative and community-minded fans are contributing more entertainment, exhibits and surprises than ever before. An important portion of the overall fan participation at the show is the fan table area in the Celebration Experience Exhibit Hall, where individual fan organizations show off what makes them special in the Star Wars galaxy.

Star Wars At Large: Family Fun

Posted By: Medium At Large

Fri May 4 2012 12:52:00 pm

images
We've talked about some guests.  Shall we talk about some programming?  Here's the initial info on our Family Room from LFL... Celebration VI will offer endless opportunities for young fans to have fun. The Family Room will be an exciting place for kids to hang out together with their families, designed with younger Star Wars fans in mind. Open every day of the show, the Family Room offers a variety of fun activities that kids and their families can participate in together. Parents and kids can drop in at any time to make a craft, play a game, or just relax in a comfy chair with a Star Wars book.

More great Family Room activities are being added all the time, but here are just a few to give you an idea of what you can look forward to.

Jawa Painting with Pat
Following the success of Celebration V’s Droid Painting activity, Pat will be back with an all new project—Jawa Painting. Each participant will be given the pieces they need to complete a Jawa figure, including its signature glowing yellow eyes. They will be given the opportunity to paint on their own details and to pose the Jawa as they wish. Once completed, each participant will have a custom Jawa of their very own.

Building Challenges with Chad
Think bottles, cups, and containers belong in the trash? Chad will show you there’s more than one way to recycle when he helps kids turn old junk into new Star Wars models. Using everyday household materials and limited only by imagination, kids will be taught to create droids, lightsabers, or starships. No previous building skills are required; Chad will teach you everything you need to know. One challenge will be taught per day, so kids can stop by and make one or all of them.

“This Deal is Getting Worse all the Time!” with Jedi Eddy
Jedi Eddy will be hosting a game show for kids and their families. Think “Let’s make a Deal” but with a Star Warstwist! Contestants will be recruited from the audience to see if they have what it takes to make a deal with the Empire! Make the right deal and you could end up with a nice little bounty, but beware, the deal could always get worse, and you could end up with a "Gonk" droid! This game will be geared toward kids; but their families are encouraged to participate with them. As with "Let's make a Deal", coming in costume is encouraged! And since you never know what the Empire might ask for, you might want to bring small items that represent the Galactic Empire or bounty hunters...yes, even those Rebel scum! If you are selected and do have something they're looking for, the Empire will compensate you. ...if you don't like the deal, pray that we don't alter it any further!

Star Wars At Large: The Many Faces of Fett

Posted By: Medium At Large

Fri May 4 2012 12:42:00 pm

images
Happy May The Fourth!  What's next up on Star Wars Day? A big, big post on Boba Fett(s) at Celebration! Boba's one of the most iconic characters in the entire Star Wars saga, so we're doing him right, welcoming not just one guest -- but four! From our friends at Lucasfilm... The actors who portrayed the galaxy’s favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett, will be at Star Wars Celebration VI this August. In addition to anticipated appearances on the live stages, they will be signing autographs and meetings fans in the Celebration Autograph Hall run by Official Pix.

Jeremy Bulloch might be known best for his role as the bounty hunter Boba Fett, but the British actor can be seen on the screen without the iconic helmet, both in and out of the Star Wars Saga. In addition to his role as the merciless mercenary in battered battle armor, Bulloch has also appeared as Captain Colton in Revenge of the Sith and as Lieutenant Sheckil in The Empire Strikes Back. Outside the Star Wars movies, Bulloch’s extensive television and movie credits include roles in Doctor Who, O Lucky Man!, Robin of Sherwood and three James Bond movies – Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved Me.

Boba Fett spans the entire Star Wars Saga, and the character revealed his boyhood beginnings in Attack of the Clones – portrayed by television and film actor Daniel Logan. Logan reprised this role, voicing the character in the three-part Season Two finale of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, as well as memorable appearances in Season Four, as young Fett begins his bounty hunting career. A New Zealand native, Daniel Logan started acting at the age of 10 when local children's rugby teams were being scouted for a TV commercial. From a selection of hundreds of young hopefuls, Logan got the part – playing a little boy who is knocked into the mud by Auckland rugby star Michael Jones. Other roles include New Zealand medical series Shortland Street, a guest appearance on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and The Legend of Johnny Lingo.

Celebration VI will feature others who touched the famed Mandalorian helmet. Both Dickey Beer and John Morton performed as Fett, and will be signing in the Celebration Autograph Hall. Morton, better known as Luke Skywalker’s gunner Dak Morton, shot a Fett scene with Lando Calrissian and Darth Vader in Cloud City.

And, because we can’t get enough of Mandalorian armor, Star Wars fan groups The Dented Helmet and The 501st Legion are hosting an art helmet charity project. Artists are creating one-of-a-kind masterpieces to benefit the Make-A-Wish charity, with roughly half the exhibit and art dedicated to clone trooper helmets, and half to Boba Fett helmets.

This stunning Boba Fett helmet pictured up top is by artist John Brosio and was inspired by a Hopi kachina, which is a carved and decorated doll that embodies the characteristics of the spirits of the Hopi Native Americans tribe. Brosio included real horns, snake skin, snake rattlers, and feathers. The helmet, and many more original works of art, will be on display in the Dented Helmet booth at Celebration VI, and auctioned off after the show for Make-A-Wish.

May The Fourth Be With You!  Get it?  Get it?  It's like "May The Force Be With You" only with the date... because it's May 4th...  And it's kinda a big thing.  May 4th is an unofficial Star Wars Day with fans.  Fans and shops and the like will be holding little parties celebrations all day around the globe, but what about the official Star Wars Celebration?  Are we doing anything?  Dunno.  But, I'd recommend checking back right here later today or maybe popping over to starwarscelebration.com a little later to find out.

Hello, internet.  It's been a few weeks since we've posted. We always aspire to post up new, relevant, and awesome anecdotes on the blog, but we were wiped out from C2E2. Since the show... There have been vacations to Kentucky and Iceland and business trips to Australia and Vegas. PAX registration went up, down, up again, and is now sold out.  Steven Moffat and Benedict Cumberbatch came to NYC and didn't get pulled apart by fans.  Oh, and we got into a preview screening of Avengers!  We'll have more here soon.  In fact, you should probably come back tomorrow.
